With so many ways to share and communicate information via the Internet, it’s hard to believe that back in the 1990s and early 2000s, the Internet, for most users, was largely used to receive information and the uploading was left to a world of web programmers. Once dubbed the “Information Highway” the Internet has evolved into a virtual meeting place for friends, family and business associates to connect. Now, anyone with a computer that has an Internet connection can upload any number of things by just a click of the button.
Virtually Everyone Has An Online Profile
The popularity of social media software has certainly allowed for more people to meet and establish connections and communication. These days, it’s highly uncommon for someone to not have an online presence, as most people see the value of having a profile on a social networking site to share information with others who are already in their lives and to reconnect with friends and family with whom they have lost touch. Having an online presence appeals to people of all ages, including children, many of whom already have online profiles on social networking sites and use the sites to communicate with friends. Interestingly, many children have an online presence and are too young to know it, according to 2010 study by an Internet security firm called AVG, which revealed that 7 percent of babies have an online presence, typically a photo album or a mention of them on a social networking site.
Thanks to capabilities such as uploading photos, visual and audio recordings, social networking sites reign supreme over other methods of communication simply because they allow people to share their world in so many ways and in real time.
